What
is Strand Woven Bamboo Flooring?
Stand
Woven Bamboo Flooring materials are created by cutting Moso Bamboo
stalks, boiling the pieces to remove the sugars (a termite attractant),
and then drying them for a period of time. The strands are subsequently
pressed and flattened under high pressure with a low VOC adhesive.
The result is a solid plank that is nearly twice as dense as regular
Bamboo flooring.
Hardwood floors
have always been very popular with home owners: they are beautiful,
as well as easy to take care of and keep clean. Unlike carpet, which
can harbour many allergens in its fibres, hardwood floors are especially
suited to individuals who have problems with indoor or outdoor allergies.
Today, however, there is an even better, more eco-friendly green
building option than traditional hardwood available: Strand Woven
Bamboo Flooring.
Choosing to
install Bamboo flooring in your home can be a large undertaking.
Therefore, it is important to look for quality and affordable pricing
when making these decisions. As well as being an efficient renewable
resource, Strand Woven Bamboo provides the answer to all your quality
and price concerns. This magnificent product is a newly developed
form of Bamboo flooring that was created primarily to address the
durability issues of regular plank Bamboo versus traditional hardwoods.
Bamboo has been
the traditional building material of choice throughout most of Asia
for many centuries. However, it is only in the last decade or so
that Bamboo has started gaining popularity in the west. Strand Woven
Bamboo Flooring is created in a different way to plank flooring.
Moso Bamboo stalks are cut into small pieces, boiled down, and then
dried over time. The boiling process has the added benefit of removing
all the sugars from the Bamboo ? essential for the prevention of
termites. Once the Bamboo strands are dry, they are pressurized
and flattened into planks with a low VOC adhesive that is used to
mould the strands together. This process creates a solid Bamboo
plank with a density virtually twice that of a regular Bamboo flooring
plank.
In terms of
durability, the high density created in this process makes Strand
Woven Bamboo Flooring ideal for placement in high wear and high
traffic settings. Not only is it the most durable Bamboo flooring,
it is also the least waste-producing option. The process of chopping
up and boiling down the Bamboo stalks uses up the entire Bamboo
plant, unlike traditional solid Bamboo flooring processes that produce
waste cutting material that does not fit into a traditional plank.
If you are looking for flooring that is visually appealing, easy
to care for, and environmentally friendly, Strand Woven Bamboo is
an excellent choice.
